Library Automation project started in 1992 and by 1996. The Library was fully computerized with the TINLIB software. The Library started on Local Area Network (LAN) with one server and fifteen workstations. In 1998, an upgrade of TINLIB software called T series was acquired and installed with added advantages. October, 2002, the then University Librarian Professor M.I. Ajibero recommended Alice for Windows which has since been acquired, installed and use. Currently, the Library enjoys full internet connectivity.
A glass house was created on the first floor to house OPAC (On-Line Public access Catalogue) and Medline Search, six systems were installed to allow more users to access the Library on-line facilities. The total number of Computers in the Library is 51 and they are networked. The Library is now on e-library.
Unilorin Library is marching on, based on the increase in the acquisition of Library materials and the introduction of Alice for Windows software as a replacement for both TINLIB (in 1996) and T/Series (in the year 1998). This software has reduced impersonation to the bearest minimum. The majority of our staff are computer literate. All academic librarians and most non - academic staff have undergone Computer training Course in the Computer Centre of the University. The course is a continuous exercise. Every academic staff has a set of computer with internet facility and other software to help in the effective discharge of their duties
